Paris Jackson Shares a Personal Journey of Growth and Finding Her Own Voice

Paris Jackson has spent much of her life known primarily as the daughter of legendary entertainer Michael Jackson, but she has worked to establish an identity of her own. After her father’s death, she experienced difficult teenage years involving emotional struggles and substance use. She has also discussed mental-health diagnoses and time spent at a therapeutic school in Utah, which she later viewed negatively. Rather than hiding those experiences, Paris has spoken about them as part of her continuing journey toward recovery and personal growth.

Sobriety became an important part of that journey. Paris has publicly discussed years without heroin and alcohol while emphasizing that recovery does not make every challenge disappear. She has had to learn how to manage emotions, memories, stress, and everyday difficulties without relying on substances. She has also described lasting effects from her earlier substance use, including damage to her nose that can sometimes affect her breathing. Her openness reflects her view that recovery involves accepting the past while continuing to build a healthier future.

Creative work has also helped Paris develop her individual identity. She entered professional modeling and signed with IMG Models in 2017 before appearing in fashion publications and major events. Acting became another creative outlet, while music remains especially meaningful. Her debut album, Wilted, was released in 2020 and reflected a personal period of her life. Since then, she has continued developing her own sound, working with musicians and producers and performing for audiences without attempting to recreate her father’s musical style.

Today, Paris continues pursuing music, modeling, and acting while navigating the attention that comes with the Jackson family name. Her story is no longer defined only by her famous father or difficult teenage years. Instead, she has gradually built a path centered on creativity, resilience, recovery, and personal responsibility. By speaking openly about her experiences and making her own creative choices, Paris continues working toward a future that reflects who she wants to become rather than expectations placed upon her.
