Every Woman My Widowed Father Dated Vanished Overnight After One Dinner, Until My Best Friend Went Out With Him and Helped Me Discover Who Was Secretly Watching Them

The sixth woman disappeared the morning after telling my father she wanted to see him again. My name is Lola, and by then I had watched Dad endure twelve lonely years after losing my mother. When he finally joined a dating app, I was happy for him. The women he met seemed kind, and every date appeared to go well. Yet by sunrise, each woman stopped responding. Dad assumed he was the problem and slowly withdrew again.Desperate to understand what was happening, I asked my best friend Rachel to go on a date with him. She agreed, promising to tell me everything she noticed. Afterward, she said Dad had been funny, respectful, and completely normal. She even agreed to have dinner with him the following Friday. But the next morning, Rachel sent me a chilling message: “Don’t contact me. Please.”

When we finally met, Rachel showed me why she had panicked. Anonymous messages had been sent to her, including a photograph of her leaving the restaurant with Dad. The sender knew her home address, workplace, and even a private family secret involving her brother Graham. Someone had clearly been watching her.Dad checked his security cameras, and what we saw made my stomach drop. A hooded figure had been lingering near his driveway on the same evening as Rachel’s date. The person appeared to be deliberately watching the house. Then I noticed something familiar: the distinctive white sneakers the stranger was wearing.

I recognized those shoes from an old family photograph. They belonged to Sabrina, my late mother’s younger sister. I could hardly believe it, but the evidence was too strange to ignore. Rachel also remembered that she had once privately told Sabrina about Graham. I confronted my aunt, expecting her to deny everything.Instead, Sabrina confessed. She had been following the women, researching their lives, and frightening them away from Dad. She claimed she was protecting my mother’s memory and believed no woman should replace her. But her grief had turned into control, and innocent people were paying the price.

Rachel reported the threatening messages, while Dad provided the security recordings. Sabrina accepted responsibility and agreed to counseling. Dad, meanwhile, blamed himself, saying he should never have tried dating again. I reminded him that loving Mom didn’t mean he had to spend the rest of his life alone.Months later, Dad met a woman named Jocelyn. He told her about Mom and everything that had happened. She didn’t disappear. After their third date, Dad called me with music playing behind him, and I heard him laughing. For the first time since Mom died, he wasn’t waiting for the past anymore. He was finally giving himself permission to build something new.
