Investigation Ongoing in the Search for Tucson Resident Nancy Guthrie

Authorities continue to investigate the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie as they work to determine the events surrounding the night she was last seen at her Tucson home. As part of the ongoing investigation, officials confirmed that her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, voluntarily participated in an interview with investigators. Law enforcement stated that he has not been arrested or charged and noted that speaking with relatives and close contacts is a routine part of missing-person investigations.

According to investigators, Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31, 2026, after having dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and Tommaso Cioni. Reports indicate that Cioni later drove her home and observed her entering the residence. Family members became concerned the following day when she did not attend church services and could not be contacted. Deputies responded to her home and identified information that led to a more extensive investigation.

Officials later reported that a security camera at the property had been disconnected. Investigators also confirmed that evidence collected near the front entrance was linked to Nancy through forensic testing. In addition, authorities reviewed electronic data indicating an unexpected interruption in communication from her pacemaker during the early morning hours of February 1. Based on the available evidence, law enforcement expanded investigative efforts and requested assistance from federal and specialized forensic teams.

The case has also been affected by misleading ransom-related communications that authorities determined were not connected to Nancy’s disappearance. A suspect accused of sending those messages was arrested on unrelated charges. Meanwhile, search efforts continue throughout the Catalina Foothills area with support from K-9 units, drones, aerial resources, and ground search teams. Investigators remain focused on gathering information and encourage anyone who may have relevant details to contact law enforcement as the search continues.
