Beloved British Comedy Star Richard O’Sullivan Passes Away at 82

British television is remembering Richard O’Sullivan, the beloved actor best known for his unforgettable role as Robin Tripp in the classic sitcom Man About the House. O’Sullivan reportedly passed away at the age of 82 in a London care home after living with the long-term effects of a serious stroke. His natural charm, exceptional comedic timing, and memorable performances made him one of Britain’s most recognizable television personalities during the 1970s and 1980s.

Born in London in 1944, O’Sullivan began acting as a child before becoming a household name through Man About the House, which aired from 1973 to 1976. His portrayal of Robin Tripp helped inspire the American adaptation, Three’s Company, starring John Ritter.

After suffering a stroke in 2003, O’Sullivan gradually withdrew from public life and spent his later years receiving care. His contribution to British entertainment remains significant, with generations of viewers continuing to enjoy his classic television performances. As admirers reflect on his remarkable career, his humor, warmth, and enduring influence on television comedy will be fondly remembered.
