Authorities in California are investigating a shooting that occurred outside the Beverly Hills
residence of Rihanna on Sunday afternoon. According to officials from the Los Angeles Police Department,
officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:15 p.m. local time on March 8.
Initial reports indicated that the singer was at home when the incident happened. Fortunately, police later confirmed that no one was injured.
Investigators say the suspect, a woman believed to be in her 30s, briefly stopped
a vehicle outside the property before firing multiple rounds toward the house.
Authorities reported that between seven and nine shots were fired, with several
bullets striking parts of the property. Officers later discovered
damage to a gate as well as bullet holes in a recreational vehicle parked in the driveway, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
Following the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled the area in a white Tesla,
traveling south along Coldwater Canyon Drive. Police quickly launched a search
using patrol units and a helicopter, eventually locating the vehicle in a
shopping center parking lot in nearby Sherman Oaks. Within roughly thirty
minutes of the initial emergency call, officers were able to stop
the vehicle and take the suspect into custody. During a search of the car, police said they recovered an assault-style rifle and shell casings.
Details about the suspect and possible charges are expected to be released
soon as the investigation continues. Officials told outlets including CBS News
and NBC News that more information would become available once booking
procedures are completed. For now, authorities say the situation
is under control, and the case remains an active investigation as they work to determine the motive behind the shooting.
