Sister reveals what happened before Savannah Guthrie’s mom was possibly kidnapped

A deeply concerning investigation is underway in Tucson, Arizona, following the disappearance

of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie. Authorities now suspect she was

abducted from her home while asleep, a scenario officials describe as highly unusual and deeply alarming.

What began as a routine missing-person report has quickly escalated into a potential criminal investigation.

Nancy was reported missing around noon on Sunday after failing to attend church, something

her family said was entirely out of character. Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed investigators

believe the critical window began Saturday night. Nancy had dinner with her daughter Annie,

who is believed to be the last person to see her before she returned home to her residence in the Catalina Foothills area.

Annie told authorities there were no warning signs. Nancy appeared mentally alert and in

good spirits when dropped off at home between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. “She went to bed Saturday night,

and by Sunday morning she was gone,” Sheriff Nanos said, emphasizing how rare and concerning it is for an elderly woman to vanish overnight.

Further evidence heightened suspicion that Nancy did not leave voluntarily. Her cellphone,

wallet, and car were left behind, and DNA evidence recovered from inside the home has been sent for analysis.

Authorities noted that while she is mentally sharp, Nancy has limited mobility and relies on medication, making the timing of her disappearance especially urgent.

Search efforts have been extensive, involving drones, search dogs, volunteers, Border Patrol agents,

and homicide detectives—a rare escalation reflecting the seriousness of the case. Residents

in the area have been asked to review home security footage from Saturday night into early Sunday morning, as even small details could prove critical.

Family members, including Savannah Guthrie, have appealed for public support and prayers.

Authorities continue to stress urgency in finding Nancy, focusing on bringing her

home safely while navigating the unsettling reality of a nighttime abduction from a quiet neighborhood.
